A.M. Best Affirms ‘A’ Rating for Companion Property & Casualty
Columbia, S.C. – A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the “A” (Excellent) financial strength rating of Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Group, a national, multi-line insurance company based in Columbia, S.C. The outlook for the rating is stable.
In its 2012 report on Companion Property & Casualty’s 2011 performance, A.M Best cited the company’s sound underwriting fundamentals and strong capitalization. Companion Property and Casualty has held the “A” (Excellent) rating for four consecutive years.
“The rating reflects the group’s strong capitalization, solid historical operating performance, stabilized loss reserve development trends, as well as prudently managed geographic and product diversification initiatives through its ‘fee for service’ business,” the report stated.
Companion Property & Casualty was launched in 1984 as a provider of workers’ compensation insurance in South Carolina. Since then, it has expanded into a multi-line, full-service insurance company licensed in 49 states. Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Group includes Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Companion Commercial Insurance Co. and Companion Specialty Insurance Co., all of Columbia, S.C.; AmFed National Insurance Co. and AmFed Casualty Insurance Co. of Ridgeland, Miss.; and several other companies.
