Loss Control Services

Companion Property & Casualty maintains a Loss Contol Department to keep our Underwriting and Claims professionals up to date on the latest standards in engineering, safety and loss prevention. This important information is designed to assist our staff in the daily conduct of their jobs and in the decisions that they make. In addition, Companion's Loss Control Department helps customers to maintain effective programs that help prevent human and economic losses resulting from personal injuries and property damage.

For some customers, Companion's loss control services may be as simple as connecting them with the appropriate tools that will enable the customer to maintain a loss control program for themselves. For others, on-site consulting may be more appropriate and may include:

A physical survey of customer facilities to determine hazardous exposure for both employees and property.

Assessment of formal safety programs.

Identification and correction of physical hazards that pose a risk of injury or property damage.

Assistance in implementing facility inspection, accident investigation, substance abuse, hazard communication and lockout/tagout programs.

Assessment of procedures for handling hazardous chemical and biological materials.

Assistance in proper OSHA record keeping.

Examination of detailed loss information on all lines of coverage and a review of customers' past accidents in order to reduce the frequency and severity of claims.

Regardless of a customer's size or complexity, an active loss control program can help to reduce the occurrence of accidents and to control future premium costs.

We urge customers to take advantage of the wealth of information that is available under the headings at the left of this page. Please contact us if you have questions or require assistance on the Loss Control topics described in this section.
